Whonnock
has had a post office since 1885. The postoffice started at the
original Whonnock General Store--now under Lougheed Highway--and
was opened at its present site in the spring of 1916. Efficient
and friendly postmaster Sue Schulze, is a proud Whonnockian. At
her suggestion Canada Post has provided us with a new postmark,
recognising the heritage value of the oldest still existing postoffice
in Maple Ridge. |
